The Big Sky School District will request a one year, $40,000 levy to support its general fund on the upcoming May 8 mail-in election. The BSSD Board of Directors approved the district’s levy proposal at its March 20 meeting.
Two spots were open and two community members filed, and will win by acclamation, seats on the Big Sky Fire Department Board of Trustees. Matt Dodd and Deborah Lewis will join the board in May, 2018.

Recently recognized for her GRTF volunteer work for “most pebbles counted,” Johnson decided to take her involvement to the next level, joining the GRTF board of directors in February.
Members of the community are encouraged to register for a place on the May 8 mail-in school board election ballot. Deadline to file is April 5 and ballots will be mailed out April 23.
There are two open seats on the Resort Area District board, and now there are at least three candidates running.
In response to the last Big Sky Resort Area Tax Board’s subcommittee meeting held earlier this month, Big Sky Resort General Manager Taylor Middleton attended the second annual Resort Tax Summit, offering his two cents on the question of whether private club membership dues should be subject to the 3 percent resort tax.
Over the last year, the Big Sky Resort Area District has been challenged to make sure it’s not missing out on revenue by declining to tax certain things, like dues paid by members of the Yellowstone Club, Moonlight Basin and Spanish Peaks.
